Elizabeth O’Brien, LPC

Elizabeth is a licensed professional counselor, and has been in private practice since 2004. Her specialty areas include perinatal mental health (PMH-C), life transitions, and Brainspotting intervention for complex trauma. Elizabeth is also widely respected as a "therapist's therapist," and for her eco-feminist approach as a business consultant for entrepreneurs, teams, and leaders within our community. 

​Elizabeth has a passion for educating other professionals about Perinatal Mood and Anxiety disorders. She leads workshops, classes, and national trainings for clinicians, birth workers, public health nurses, early childhood educators, and community members. She s currently the Co-Chair for the Perinatal Task Force of Georgia, and was the founding Past Board President of the Georgia Chapter of PSI

Originally from Chicago, Elizabeth earned a B.S. in Social Work from Xavier University, Cincinnati and then began counseling battered women in a shelter in Fairbanks, Alaska. She then obtained her master’s degree in Dance Movement Therapy at Columbia College, Chicago while also interning as a postpartum doula. Elizabeth returned to Alaska where she worked in hospitals, substance abuse treatment centers, grammar and preschools, and a juvenile correction facility. As a therapist in Alaska, she had sessions in traditional offices, as well as remote Native villages, accessible only by plane. 

In 2008, Elizabeth began working as Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant with Head Start, and later became one of the founding board members of Alaska's Early Childhood Mental Health State board. 

In 2011 Elizabeth moved to Atlanta, Georgia where she continues teaching and has started a group practice with several location and her own private practice. After years of interest in yoga, she completed her 200-hour teacher training in yoga.

Recently Elizabeth had an opportunity to be a contributor for an ebook The Guide to Survive Motherhood: Newborn Edition.

As a social justice activist, antiracist and a life long learner, Elizabeth commits to celebrate diversity, equity & inclusion of all people.
